Three-time Emmy nominee Molly Shannon has signed on to star in the half-hour comedy pilot “Big Deal”, starring and executive produced by Emmy nominee Vanessa Bayer.
The show is described as a “grounded comedy in which Bayer plays a character, inspired by her own past, who overcame childhood leukemia to achieve her lifelong dream of landing a job as a successful home shopping channel host. Shannon will star as Jackie, the charismatic, popular host at the network.”
“Lethal Weapon” alum Seann William Scott will start in a US remake of the Brit comedy “This Country”, according to Deadline. Directed by Paul Feig, the half-hour mockumentary is inspired by the BBC Three format created by Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper. “The show follows the daily lives of cousins Kelly and Shrub Mallet, who are trailed by a documentary crew as they go to a small town to study young adults and their current concerns in an idiosyncratic surrounding. The show follows the pair as they pursue their dreams, confront challenges and fight each other for frozen pizza.”
A second season of Fox’s “Mental Samurai”, hosted by Rob Lowe, will kick off April 22nd. “Mental Samurai is a one-of-a-kind show that brilliantly marries intellect and physicality, and we’re so happy to partner with Warner Horizon Unscripted, Arthur Smith and Jeff Apploff to bring it back for a second season,” said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, FOX Entertainment.
Disney Channel‘s #1 series for Kids and Girls 6-11*, “Bunk‘d,” will soon be back for a fifth season full of more adventures at Maine’s rustic Camp Kikiwaka.Erin Dunlap (“Andi Mack,” “Jessie”), who joined the series as executive producer in season four, will return as sole showrunner for season five. Former executive producer Phil Baker (“Good Luck, Charlie,” “Andi Mack”), who teamed with Dunlap on the series‘ highly rated fourth season, will focus on development and other projects for the channel. Production will begin in fall 2020.

“Love, Victor”, a 10-episode series spin-off of the hit film “Love, Simon” has been ported over from Disney+ to Hulu – reportedly due to the show’s themes being a little too adult for the Disney platform. Per Variety, the show “focuses on Victor (Michael Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School — the same high school as the movie — on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation.”
On next week’s episode of “The Flash”, titled “Death of the Speed Force”, Wally West aka Kid Flash returns with a dire warning about the speed force for Barry. “Death of the Speed Force” – (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV) on March 3.
Per Deadline, “Guardians of the Galaxy” alum Michael Rooker has joined the cast of Showtime drama pilot “The President is Missing”, based on the novel by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson from Christopher McQuarrie and Anthony Peckham. David Oyelowo is already set to star in the series.
Teri Polo (“The West Wing”), Matt Lucas, Ser’Darius Blain and Ray Cham have boarded the ballet-themed comedy pilot “The Big Leap”. According to Deadline, it’s about a show about “second chances, chasing your dreams and taking back what’s yours. The show revolves around a group of diverse underdogs from all different walks of life who compete to be part of a competition reality series that is putting on a modern, hip remake of Swan Lake. What they lack in the traditional dancer body type, they make up for with their edge, wit and desire to reimagine an iconic story to fit their own mold.”
